winter whine

when a puddle of slush is a disgust,
when the harsh flurries slap her cheeks,
when the bustling road is a sea of snowflakes,
when the snowman expands its networking,
when it takes forever to fancy out of the doorstep,
when the hot water fluids through the cocoa powder,
when there is a reason to caress one another,
when silent prayers are said to stay warm and safe,
when you feel blessed to be born in a tropical country,
when there is a longing for blossoming tulips,
when the winter whines

it was sunday. ever since i spent the last week of winter break at Nora's place, my biological clock took a 180 degree turn. it races before the cuckoo could clock. as early as seven in the morning, i'll be up skimming through hawkmail. just in case the 9:30 class is canceled. the probability of that happening though is, uhm never. but it was sunday.

the Malaysian Student Society decided to participate in the Carver Stadium clean-up. later that afternoon, a bunch of volunteers gathered at section EE. it was a fundraising activity but not only did we get free admission to spectate the women's basketball game, i believe nearly everyone discovered a newfound respect for janitors or custodians, a blase way to put it.

if i were to summarize the whole experience, it'd be the expression on daddy's face if he finds out his daughter is cleaning after other's litter. the sweep down the flight of stairs was painstakingly valuable. i kept playing this image of an aged custodian lady who bends down to mop each soda-spill. on top of that she has to sweep the entire stadium, which accommodates thousands of people. even tapping the mop to bruno mars' just the way you are won't help ease the 'muscle' training.

i could use a masseuse.
